We had 9 shooters show up to shoot today's match out of 10 RSVP's.
Mike S. ran the match.
Nathan, John, Eddie and a few other volunteers helped run the line and spot.
Total round count for the day was 72.
There were 10 stages with 920 total points possible.

After aprox. 1/2 hour of time to zero and confirm dope, the course of fire was as follows:

Stage 1
100yd Cold bore
Round count: 1
Start position: Standing at yellow line, rifle on ground, bolt open.
On the beep, engage the 2" dot at 100yds.
55 points for a hit.
55 points possible
60 seconds prep, 30 seconds shoot time.

Stage 2
100yd Hostage
Round count: 4
Start position: Standing at yellow line, rifle on ground, bolt open.
On the beep, engage the hostage target at 100 yards from the prone position with four rounds.
15 points for shots within the scoring box or 5 points for any other bad guy hit and -15 points for each hostage hit.
60 points possible
60 sec prep and 90 sec shoot time.

Stage 3
100yd Positional
Round count: 8
Start position: Standing at port arms, bolt open.
On the beep, engage the 100yd mini IPSC target with 2 shots offhand, 2 shots kneeling, 2 shots seated and finally 2 shots from unsupported prone. Sling support only.
Scoring as per the point values on the target.
80 points possible.
60 seconds prep, 90 seconds shoot time.

Stage 4
150 yard Shooting Ports
Round count: 10
Start position: Standing at barricade, rifle at port arms.
On the start signal, engage yellow 8" steel target with 2 shots per port.
10 points per hit
100 points possible
60 seconds prep, 120 seconds shoot time.

Stage 5
200yd Steel.
Round count: 5
Start position: Prone behind rifle.
On the start signal, engage yellow 10" steel target with 5 rounds.
20 points per hit
100 points possible.
60 seconds prep, 90 seconds shoot time.

Stage 6
50yd weak side dots
Round count: 5
Start position: Prone behind rifle.
On the beep, engage the five 1" dots at 50yds with 1 shot each from the weak side, with weak trigger finger. Bipod support only, no rear bag, shooting glove or shemagh. Bare hand only.
20 points per hit.
100 points possible.
60 seconds prep, 60 seconds shoot time.

Stage 7
50yd Pool balls the hard way.
Round count: 8
Start position: Prone behind rifle.
On the beep, engage all the solid pool balls. The 8 ball is optional. A hit to the 8 ball without also hitting all other solid balls causes the shooter to lose all points. Bipod support only, no rear bag, shooting glove or shemagh. Bare hand only.
10 points per ball except the 8 ball is worth 30 or zero points if all solids are not hit.
100 points possible.

Stage 8
50yd dot drill on 1/2" dots.
Round count: 20
Start position: Standing at yellow line, rifle on ground, bolt open.

Stage 9
50yd Standard KYL.
Round count: up to 5
Start position: Standing at yellow line, rifle on ground, bolt open.
On the beep, engage the circles from largest to smallest, stopping if you do not believe you can make a sure hit. A miss causes shooter to zero the whole target.
Points are 5, 10, 20, 30 & 40.
105 points possible.
60 seconds prep, 60 second shoot time.

Stage 10
50yd Kneeling

482 Eddie J.
431 Ronnie S.
408 Joe V.
375 Jeff B.
317 Jeff S.
234 John P.

* NOTE: Upon closer inspection of the score sheet following the match, an error was found in Reese's score giving him an extra 80 points. Showing excellent sportsmenship and class, he traded dogtags with John putting them with their rightfull owner. Sorry for the error and confusion.

This being our first rimfire match, we would like to hear your feedback. How were the targets, cof, level of difficulty, etc? Let us know so we can improve.

Looks like john won the match based on his coldbore shot.

If you have the winner at around 66% of points possible with the top 1/2 of the shooters mostly hanging around 50% of points possible, then you have the difficulty about right.

Thanks for another fun match. I really like these rimfire matches. It's an excuse to get another gun and these matches also break up the monotony of the centerfire matches.

I liked the targets. I found the 150-yard target to be more difficult than the 200-yard target because there was no berm behind the 150 and if you were blown off the target or had the wrong dope it was very difficult to correct.

Calibrating difficulty on a rimfire match is always going to be difficult because of the uncertainty of the weather. Targets that are too big on a calm day are too small on a windy day. I think Randall's test is as good as any for calibrating difficulty.

I spent most of my spare time this morning taking vids, so I have only a few pics.

Mike shows the hostage target during the meeting before the match:

Reese's Savage:

My Anschutz:

The bipod worked great today and the relieved ejection port was the final touch in getting my Anschutz to eject properly. Thanks again to Randall for the nice work.

Joe's CZ:

This CZ has really nice wood on it. I told Joe he should shoot without the stock pack if only to admire the nice wood. He chuckled. I was serious.

Rich's 10/22:

Everyone's favorite ammo:

My Stage hostage target:

Disaster.

Jeff's Stage Three Positional:

That's excellent. I missed the paper entirely with one shot and got a lucky head-shot:

Pool balls are my nemesis:

30 out of 100 possible points. I didn't even shoot at balls 4 and 7 because I had lost count of how many shots I had fired. I thought the 4 and 7 in the center the of the balls were hits when I was looking through my scope.

Mike adds up the scores:

Rich is on a roll:

That's two places in two matches. Well done.

I feel bad about this one. Reese with the gold medal:

As Mike pointed out, there was an error in the scoring that we discovered during lunch at Ranchside. So Reese and I swapped medals.

Those are the highlights. There are a few more pics here:

I'll ask Ho to upload the videos tomorrow.

Thank you to everyone for putting on this match. I had a great time. The COF was challenging and fun but easy enough you didn't get discouraged. John Lee was very helpful and I'm glad he was shooting next to me. He would help out explaining the COF and remind me to check my scope before I would shoot. This being my first match I learned a lot, and know what I need to work on to improve. It was nice meeting people and putting faces and voices to usernames. Once again thank you to all that helped. Hopefully next time I can keep the 1st place honors. :)

Thanks for another fun match, I have never felt better after zeroing so many stages. Hopefully John's video's captured one of my Homer moments.

I'm looking for a scope for my .22. It looks like Bushnells have a good representation? Which model/power?

I like my bushnell 4200 6x24. I shot most stages at 24. You can see your hits and if it's bright enough you can sometimes see the bullet travel and hit the target.

My magnification topped out at 9x and I couldn't see shit! I had a hard time seeing my holes at 100 yds. Even at 50 yards it was hard to see if the bullet impacted on a line. I plan on mounting my 4-16x millet on my 10/22 as soon as I've saved enough for a new scope for my savage.

It was a damn good time I must say!

Nathan and Tackman11, thanks guys. Don't forget the honorable videographer John Lee pulled a first, and stoopy rocked a econd for his first match. Hats off guys!

Eddie, thanks for being a help as always. Looking forward to you stepping up the ol' .22 so we can duke it out some more!

Anyone who missed out, make sure to come out next time. You just can't have any more fun for this cheap!

Mike,
Nick told me about that guy who lit the place up! It was that guy shooting his .50 right over my head, right? What a numb nut! Maybe that means he won't be there next match with his shenanigans.

The fiftys were annoying when your trying to concentrate and then you hear the big boom. If you can afford a fifty you think you could afford the gas to shoot it in the desert.

And if you can afford a fifty you can afford some decent glass, not a fucking aimpoint like he had on one of them.

the fixed 10 looks perfect for rimfire.

I got to play with a SS scope at one of our clinics. I like the knobs and it had an obscene amount of internal adjustment, something like 150 MOA. I would want more than 10x for rimfire. Actually, I would prefer something variable, I put my scope down to about 6 power for offhand shots and you may want a low setting inthe future (ahem) if we get a mover.

No target turrets, mil-mil and not sure what the reticle is, but it might work for those on a budget or be dandy on a hunting rifle.

I was considering one of these for my POS 10/22.
