Re: CaPRC 3/13/11 Match AAR
I'd request that in future matches the scores would include what shooter got in a given stage.
I've read that a one of the purposes of the club is the encourage shooters to get better.
One of the best tools to get better is to know what you did on each stage and find out what you did when compared to the winner. We need to KNOW where we suck and what we need to work on. And we need to have a goal for that particular skill.
Yeah I can write down what I got... but what the hell did Mr. Top .308 do? What do I need to do to crush him?

Re: CaPRC 3/13/11 Match AAR
Thanks again to all for putting on another fun and challenging match, something that is easier said than done. Put me on the list to help at the next match, hopefully it won't turn out like one of John's video's. I hate watching John's video's of me because they usually show me doing a Homer, succeeding despite idiocy. First I leave my chamber flag in, I blink at every shot and even try to put the magazine in backwards on the reload. You can actually see me bow my head and take a deep breath to regain my composure towards the end of the stage, because I thought I had put the previous two shots outside the box. Hopefully my luck on hostage stages will not run out when there's an actual hostage involved. I got into the no rear bag thing at Spaniard's matches and stuck with it for better or worse, the better being one less thing to manage on the line and the worse being larger groups and wider fliers. The left eye open thing works for me because I'm really nearsighted in that eye and it doesn't interfere with the right eye's view through the scope. My left eye mostly watches the bubble level or looks at the elevation knob if I am dialing for the stage, pretty much everything past the muzzle is a blur.

Re: CaPRC 3/13/11 Match AAR
I was on the spotter scope when Jeff was cleaning the Hostage Takers. Well done. with blinking and all. LOL
Luckily, I am right eye dominant. So leaving the left eye open doesn't really affect my right side vision thru the scope. So I just decided to leave it open in the hopes of minimizing facial muscle fatigue. I think that helps the "natural point of aim" dead body feel. Although, I think I had lots of other issues on this match. LOL

What the hell am I looking at on the far right during the stage? What a disaster.

It's pretty easy to scan the master scoresheet like this:

God shoots a Remington 700, drives a Chevy Truck and carries a Glock 19.
I don't do any of those things.

Damn. That scorecard is sobering.
I zeroed four stages. That's almost half the match.
I wasn't so hot on the other stages either.

I'd like to thank everyone for the higher than normal number of zero score stages.johnlee wrote:I zeroed four stages. That's almost half the match.
It makes it so much easier to add up your scores when so many of them are zero.

LOL! I am, but not because of the results. I could care less about that as long as I'm learning something and having a good time at it. My wife is due anyday now and I'm still trying to find a good excuse to go the the range on a regular basis. Until then, I guess I have to help out a little bit....hochung wrote:Kevin, I think we should just lay low for now. LOL.

Re: CaPRC 3/13/11 Match AAR
Well I learned that I continue to suck at unsupported positions (unsupported prone, off the chair, off the bench). I also learned that I can keep both eyes open which I tried last night and found that it was much less fatiguing on my fat face. I learned that I need to work on acquiring targets faster. To that end, I moved my scope back a bit, because it was impossible to work my magnification on my scope where it was sitting. I also learned that if you let people mess with your scope before the match, you can't assume people put the knobs back to where they were when they found it or you will most certainly miss your cold bore shot. Hahaha.brian01tj wrote:

I disagree, at least with NEED, there's a justification/call to action vs. WANT which is emotional IMO.MichaelV wrote:

Re: CaPRC 3/13/11 Match AAR
Want is stronger than need. Want is emotional and need is intellectual. Emotions are stronger than intellect, no matter how hard we try to make it otherwise.
"Need" is usually an after-the-fact justification for why something is "needed" in the first place. For example, look at that stock pack question. Someone bought a stock pack because he wanted it. So he got it. Then he looked for stuff to put in it to justify the "need" for having one.
