CaPRC longrange clinic Postponed due to weather
				Posted: Tue Nov 02, 2010 9:14 am
				by AR15barrels
Due to concerns over possible heavy rains this weekend, this month's shoot is cancelled.
Come on out and join us for our longrange clinic on Saturday November 20th.
We will be holding this shoot at the tri-county sportsmans club in Cuyama, CA.
Cuyama is southwest of Taft.
We will meet up at a park-n-ride at the 405 and the 118 and carpool out to the range as a group.
It is just under a 2 hr drive from the meeting location.
Use google maps to find the meeting location : 15550 Chatsworth Street, Mission Hills, CA
Please note that this is NOT the same meeting location we have used in the past!
You must have shot our new precision rifle shooter clinics in the past to attend this shoot.
You also need to have a solid 100yd zero before you arrive as we will not have a way to check our 100yd zeros on this range.
We will shoot and spot paper targets at 800yds, 900yds and 1000yds.
Experienced club members will be on hand to help new shooters.
We will limit this to 20 actual shooters as we have only 5 lanes.
Cold drinks and BBQ will be provided as part of the $40 entry/range fee for the day.
Tentative schedule:
7:30 to 8:00 Gather at Park-n-Ride.
8:00 travel to Cuyama.
9:45 Arrive at Cuyama.
9:45 Shooters Meeting.
10:00 Shooters to the 800yd line.
11:00 Shooters to the 900yd line.
12:00 BBQ Lunch.
1:00 Shooters to the 1000yd line.
2:15 Travel back to Park-n-Ride.
4:00 Arrive at Park-n-Ride.
Some things to bring:
Precision rifle wearing a scope with target knobs, eye/ear protection, sunscreen, chamber flag, 60 rounds of match quality ammo, printout from a ballistics program showing your bullet drop in moa or mils as appropriate to your scope, shooting mat or blanket, bipod, some kind of rear bag or sand sock, small notepad to take notes, pencil or pen.
Bring what you have, don't worry too much about what you don't have.
We always make do with what we have.
This is a Precision Rifle event so if the gun/scope/ammo is not capable of shooting tight groups, it will detract from your overall experience at the shoot.
Please have your rifle zeroed at 100yds and your knobs set to zero.
Due to our clinics filling up quickly, we will not begin accepting RSVP's for shooters until after 12 noon on Monday November 15th.
This is to ensure that everyone who RSVP's will know what their weekend plans are and actually show up for the shoot.
Any RSVP's posted before that time will be deleted or simply ignored.
We will limit this to 20 shooters as we have a limited number of lanes.
Please RSVP in this thread if you plan to attend.
When you RSVP please post something very definite in this thread such as "I will be there".
We will not accept "if...", "I would like" or "I might" responses as an RSVP.
The following people will coach and help run the line when not shooting:
AR15barrels
Snappy
264charlie
Fjold
Gnzrme
oni
The following people are on the schedule as shooters:
gau17

marxdspot
the poi
Jeff361
DavidRSA
Seth8541
sevensixtwo
Juice5610

alegrianyc
Non-shooters are welcome of course and you will still learn something even if you are not shooting.

It is just under a 2 drive from the meeting location.
Can I use a 1 iron?
18 shooters? There are only 5 targets.
Do you need a hand on the line? I'm back in country on the 15th and I've shot there a time or two.

Yes.
That's thanksgiving weekend and we could not get access to the 1000yd range that weekend.

Greetings, I happened to find this group through someones tagline on CGN and am very interested in attending your meets. I understand that since this will be my first meet, I will not be able to shoot. Will the $40 range fee apply to non-shooters?
Nate

No charge for non-shooters, but you can kick-in $10 if you want to join the BBQ.

Probably not going to happen unless you leave early.
I can see this becoming a full day with as many shooters as we have.

Methinks the turnout will be low due to the rain and cold on the forecast.
Time to test out my new boots!

If the turnout is smaller, that just means we can spend more time on each line...

Pack your rain gear.
Michael Tuck said it might rain a little, but the does not keep us from shooting.
Forcast is for the 50's so long sleeves are in order.

Respectfully request to be included in this shoot.
As this will be a one day blitz for me, I'll be leaving the SF bay area at 0330 to make it down in time. Not sure of the range address..if someone could post that for me, I'd really appreciate it!
Suggestions for the best way to the range from the north? I remember a post somewhere here describing how to get there, turning right at some rocks, etc. but can't seem to find the post now.
Thanks,
Charlie

Due to the strength of the storm and the weather service predicting steady and heavy rain in the area of the range, we are going to cancel this month's shoot and re-schedule for next month.
