Folks, we want to let everyone know next month’s match will NOT be held at Desert Sportsman Rifle and Pistol Club. We will be shooting at the Nellis Gun Club. Yes the range is on base, yes we will be able to get you on base and off base, and yes they have a rifle and pistol range out there.

The Basics
The match is held the first Saturday of every month. Arrival at the staging time outside the entrance (see below paragraphs) will be 7 AM. Match check in time is 7:30 am and the match begins at 8 am. The cost to shoot the match is $20.00 and if its your first match it is only $10. Expect to take shots from 7 yards to 1,000 yards. All stages will be shot under a par time. Shots will be taken from different positions and from different props depending on the stage. Some stages may include physical movement that requires good physical condition. (We can accommodate some impairments). Bore diameter must be between .223″ (5.56mm) and .308″ (7.62mm). The projectile speed limit is 3,150 feet per second. You will need between 60-70 rounds depending on the course of fire. *No steel core ammunition is allowed.

Equipment:
-Bolt action or Semi-auto rifle
-A 10x power scope or higher (15x or higher recommended) with MOA or MRAD markings on the reticle along with target turrets. Hunting scopes will handicap you severely in the match.
-Ammunition
-Sling (optional)
-Shooting mat (optional)
-Bi-pod or back pack (to use a front rest)
-Rear bag or shooting glove
-Empty Chamber Indicator (required)
-Spotting scope (optional)

Directions from Las Vegas:
-Take I-15 North and exit at Speedway
-Exit to the right and take your 1st right (Hollywood)
-Continue on Hollywood until you hit North Las Vegas BLVD.
-Turn left on North Las Vegas BLVD.
-The entrance to Nellis will be on your right.

Image
Civilian members of the gun range can access the facility w/o an active duty escort. For our monthly events NON-MEMBERS NEED TO WAIT OUTSIDE THE GATE TO BE ESCORTED TO THE GUN CLUB by a Sin City Precision member with base privileges. When you turn off North Las Vegas BLVD toward the entrance to the range you will see the entrance and guard gate. Please pull off to the gravel shoulder on the right, BEFORE you enter the guard gate entrance and staging area. We will have one of our members escort 10 vehicles at a time to the range. We hope to have enough active duty guys to get everyone one to the range quickly and efficiently. When coming to the base for an event please have ammunition in a separate compartment of your vehicle, IE. rifle in a drag bag in back seat with ammunition in the trunk.

R.S.V.P. for monthly matches at Sniper’s Hide forum under the tactical competition section, on this site, on our Facebook page, or on Nevada Shooters forum under range and training. More information regarding the current months match will be posted at those sites.

If you'd like to stay at my place and carpool in the AM let me know. I have base privileges so it makes it easy.

Currently, Joe D, USN Diver will be at the house. I room for three to five more. I have one bed (reserved), an air mattress and two bags available. Tons of pillows.

Joe D finished 5th, fist match for him in a long time. Could not ask for a better friend to shoot with. Brad jumped ahead of him on this stage.

3 rounds inside, 6 outside at 935. My hold was R 2.6M. Joe was left and right in the switch.

Next month will be the last monthly before the hiatus. I'd plan on shooting it as this match is about the coolest monthly I've ever shoot.

Charlie.. do you only have that line to shoot from or are there other points of fire?

Re: Sin City Monthly - 5-3-14

by 264Charlie
Nope, we have countless options... Including but not limited to short range with "door kicker" houses, two big 400+ yard washes we could do run and gun stages on, two main lines, a separate 1000 M square range plus some other shit.

If possible it is nice to shoot the longer ranges rather than short , we
Had enough of short range shooting , run and Gun is always great and
Challenging . Will try to shoot this in coming months , keeping my fingers crossed.
Another challenging stage if you have the space to find range any engage
Multiple targets under certain time frame .

Ray this any SoCal bud. We did not have any shots inside 300. We can go out to 2600. 900 is very challenging in the 30 mph winds you will see out here. Many multi target stages. This is like big match shooting man.

What is so cool about this location is the range officer wants
to grow and expand the place. The only place I have been
where space is not an issue. 1/3rd the way up the hill is over
900 yards.

When you shot that distance, did you factor in inclination?

Charlie.. What about the good physical condition? We both know that I do not fall into that category. ..

I do. As for conditioning you'd be fine in the monthlies but I'd take a hard look at your statement man. You are a young man with a family. Get your fucking ass up tomorrow eat well and start off with a 10 min jog. Do it every day. Within two months you'll be in great shape.

No bread or pasta no drinking calories.

Steven, do you own a bike? Riding is great exercise, and unlike jogging, it's actually fun. You get to ride around, go places, and look at pretty girls. And there's no pounding of your legs and joints.

You don't have to get all hardcore into it either. You don't need to ride stuff like this to get in shape:

Image

That would be brutal and you wouldn't keep it up. You can challenge yourself as much or as little as you want. Any riding is fine and infinitely better than no riding. Ho started riding around with us:

Image

In just a few months of riding, he lost like 20 lbs. or more.

You can eat whatever you want too. In fact, if you ride frequently you can't eat enough.

Peloton? I haven't raced a bike since I was in high school back in 1987.

1987 Paris-Roubaix:

Those guys are bad ass. I'm old, fat, and smoke a pack a day. When I ride, I look more like Bertha Butterball here:

Is there going to be monthly matches in November and December? Is there a website for the vegas matches? Just trying to get some practice in before January.

I was informed that if you are shooting the Vegas January match, then the Nov/Dec club matches were off limits.
