Re: 11/10/13 CAPRC Match
For the first time in history I have ammo before 2AM. Shit even loaded 70 for Nick. I love powder throwers, if this shoots I might never use my CM again.

Re: 11/10/13 CAPRC Match
Fun match. Huge thank you to Randall, Brad and Rich C for running the line. If you can shoot well at this match you can shoot well anywhere, good mix of skills is needed to win.
Danny might be as fast as Solomon, he kicked my ass in the man on man. Nice work.
Is was great to see and shoot with everyone again. see you all soon.

It is funny, no matter how much you practice, now matter how bad ass you are, it really just boils down to fucking up less than the other guy. I have never walked away from a match without some version of this in my head... "If only I had not X, I would have had JUST Y more points and gotten Z place."Gnzrme wrote:Could have done better

I forgot... I think Dmitri was 11th. *Really* good for a first run. He kicked my butt since I had 100yd zero issues that threw me off for quite a few stages til I got dialed in.... And he had ammo/mag issues... his ammo wouldnt fit in the mag -so early on had jams from the mag and switched to single feed for the rest of the match.
He said he was dropping out of the matches until getting a 5/10 round DBM setup and be sure his ammo fits in the mags. (running an FN and FN has a bolt in setup available)
After that, I'm sure he'll be back.
Good to meet ya Dmitri. You did really well for a first match. Like I said, you beat me and a number of others that have been doing this for awhile....

Yeah... after EVERY match... everyone looks over their mistakes....
I still dont know what happened, and why my 100yd zero was jacked up. (elevation perfect- windage- 3" right) It really cost me trying to get dialed in over several stages. But at least for once, I didnt shoot the hostage....

Dimitri,
If you're the guy running the FN-SPR with a factory DBM. The FN-SPR is a nice piece of kit. The OEM DBM is a POS.
Buy a CDI bottom-metal and have you action modified for it.
Yes, you will void your FN warranty.
Yes, it's worth it.

^^^Yeah-
Dmitri was running the FN. He told me they have a different factory DBM bolt on that takes 5 and 10 rounders included. Unfortunately I dont know the COAL those mags take... as I recall his rounds were 308 win at 2.840? They didnt fit his factory flush mag, but I checked one in an AICS and it's a little tight, but they fit.

He was running reloads with Amax. Probably 178g. Still really long. Thats what he said his factory chamber liked, but his mag doesnt...
He's set on buying an FN DBM setup that comes with a 5 and 10 round mag that is supposed to bolt right in. I dont know the details of the mag.... I checked, and 2.840 does fit AICS mags, but I dont know the spec of this drop in FN DBM setup he wants.
I did tell him 2.810 is the more common long COAL for SMK... I dont know about the Amax, but I guess 2.810 is pretty common across the board to fit mag length safely.

What's the verdict Charley? How did the loads perform. I'm starting to learn how to throw more consistent on my powder thrower. It does take a little learning curve. The FN unit is supposed to be improved but you are stuck using the proprietary mags. You do keep the warranty.ddragon76 wrote:I'm a little confused, i want to install this kit: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/932445 ... -magazines" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Is there a reason to get CDI instead of this?
The CDI setup allows you to us the ubiquitous AICS mags, but to does require machining of the receiver.
Another recent choice is PTG has a Win/FN DBM that drops in, does not require any modifications, but requires the use of single stack AIAE mags.
The CDI is the most versatile but requires machining the action. Between the FN-TBM or PTG, it is a tough choice.
In the face of a crisis, a failure to act is the first act of failure.

I have machined a few FN actions for CDI bottom metel.buffybuster wrote:The FN unit is supposed to be improved but you are stuck using the proprietary mags. You do keep the warranty.
It is a very small amount of machining that is necessary.
