600 Yard Prone Match, Dec.12, WEGC,Match AAR

Post by CamW »

There will be a 600 yard prone match at West End Gun Club this Sunday, Dec.12.The course of fire will be 3x15 with sighters, so bring at least 60 rounds of ammo.Everyone will be expected to pull pit duty.
The match is for fun and practice,so you can shoot what you want. Scopes, iron sights, front rest, sling, muzzle brakes are all OK.
The Match Director would like everyone at the range between 7:15 and 7:30 for sign up and squadding.
Sound off here if you're planning to make the match so I can let the MD know how many are showing up.Also state if your shooting scope or iron sights.

From the Match Director:

Gruning Mid-Range After Action Report
12 Dec. 2010

First let me say Merry Christmas to one and all. Well the Gruning Mid-range matches
are off and running. I’d like to say thanks to all those who came out and braved the wind.
We are going to try and put a wind flag at the 300 yard berm to get a better read on the
wind. It was killin’ us today as evidenced by the scores. It just proves the old saying, “If
you can shoot West End you can shoot anywhere!”

I would like to give a special thanks to Kenny and Diane for helping me take down the
flag pole to replace the rope on Saturday and put it back up! Couldn’t do it with out you
two. Thanks again.

I would also like to say thanks to Marco and Lyle for helping run the line. Thanks guys!
It really helps with a match this spread out to have Match assistants.

We divided the match into two categories, those who shot with a sling, or and those who
shot with a bipod and sand bags. Those who were slung-up shot on the MR-1 target. If
you had a bipod you shot on a MR-1F. For those of you who have never seen an MR-1F,
it has a 3” ring! Try hitting that from 570 yards away!

Here are the results for the match. MR-1 target winner, Randy Miller with a score of
401-2 not bad considering the conditions. MR-1F category was taken by Mark Infanti
with a score of 421-5, truly remarkable shooting Mark.

I hope everyone had fun, we will be doing this every 2nd Sunday from here on out so if
you missed out or just need a range “Fix” join us on the 9th of January for our next try at
those pesky targets.

Charles Guzman
High Power Rifle Director
