M1/AR-15 Carbine Matches

The purpose of these matches is to provide an opportunity for attendees to learn and practice high power rifle shooting techniques. No instruction class will be offered at these matches.

The M-1 Carbine portion of the match is Sanctioned by the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) for competitors using rifles meeting Rule 6.3.5. Participants using an as-issued M-1 Carbine will be eligible for CMP Achievement Awards.

The AR-15 Carbine portion of the match is designed to allow owners of carbine length M-16/AR- 15 platform firearms to shoot the same course of fire. The rifle used must be a carbine length version of the M-16/AR- 15 with a barrel length not to exceed 16 inches firing 5.56x45mm NATO / .223 Remington ammunition. Sights used may be XM-177/M-4 length primary or back-up iron sights; or a non-magnifying (1X power) optical sight.

Full length Target rifles of any type may not be used. Competitors using these rifles will have scores reported to the CMP as firing a "Modern Military Rifle" and are not eligible for CMP M-1 Carbine Achievement Awards.

Course of Fire

CMP Carbine Course. This will be a 40 shot match fired at 100 yards on NRA SR-1 targets. See below for details. No additional sighting shots will be taken during the match except as may be authorized by the Match Director.
• CMP Stage 1. Up to 10 sighting shots, then 10 shots for record slow fire, prone position. 15 minutes including time for sighting shots.
• CMP Stage 2. 10 shots rapid fire, prone position (from standing). One ten shot string with a reload, 60-second time limit.
• CMP Stage 3. 10 shots rapid fire, sitting position (from standing). One ten shot string with a reload, 60-second time limit.
• CMP Stage 4. 10 shots slow fire, standing position. 10 minute time limit.

Rules

Current CMP Rules shall apply. Official CMP scorecards will be used. Shooters firing an as-issued U.S. M-1 Carbine are eligible for CMP achievement awards.
Competitors are responsible for providing their own rifles and ammunition for this match. This is a no-alibi match. Competitors are expected to ensure that their equipment is in good working order.

Americana 1800 Club has a limited number of M1 Carbines rifles available for use. Please notify the match director prior to the match if you wish to use a club rifle. Ammunition is only available for shooters using a club M1 Carbine at a cost of $35.00 for 50 rounds (subject to change).

All competitors must use shooting glasses and hearing protectors. Shooting mats can be provided with prior request.

When: SATURDAYS, on 10 SEPTEMBER 2016, and 5 NOVEMBER 2016.

Start Time: Registration at 8:00am. Match starts at 8:30am.

Costs: Match fee is $15.00 which includes recordation of scores with CMP.
