Weekday Match Interest
Based on the earlier discussion, please vote in this poll regarding if CaPRC were to set up a match at Piru that would allow us to shoot metal up to 1,000 yards (uphill) would you be willing to take a day off of work do particiapte (assuming you had to usually work that day). The likely days would be on a Friday or a Monday. I am also assuming this would be 6 or months out from todays date to give the leadership time to schedule and plan.
Go ahead and ignore the 4th line...as someone posted it is a redundant question

This would be at the Wes Thompson Range near Piru, Ventura County (or any other range we may identify)

I did not know if we should also post this in the non-member forum, if one of the board members is ok with that could you move it there?

Given the messed up schedule I have working retail, I would definately be up for weekday matches. Not like I have much else to do while I wait out summer.

No, Though I may think differently if it were actually to happen
that somebody's not just being really negative on purpose because they don't like the idea and want to piss on the party. I'll guarantee that everyone on the forum that's half way involved and actually has an honest vote qualifies for this- this sounds good but it would be difficult for me to make
Let me just say "defiantly not" so i can piss on everyone else's party because i don't like the idea. I take days off sick all the time to take my wife and kids to Sea World but there's no way in hell im gonna agree to taking a day off during the week for a good time with some fellow shooters. Besides... i wouldn't want them to think it was a half way decent idea and do it without me....

Look I voted "defiantly not" and not because I am trying to piss on anyone's party and not because I don't think having a match at Piru is a bad thing.DirtRacer151 wrote:

Not that I have to explain myself but I voted that way because I am not willing to use my PTO time to go shoot a match unless its a weekend long match or its a weekend that we are hitting multiple one day matches.
Again just because you don't like the way someone votes doesn't mean you should be pissing on their vote. Not every vote that is not inline with your thought is an attack on you.

Re: Weekday Match Interest
Though I posted the Poll and would like to see a match, I do not think anyone who vote's "Definitely Not" is pissing in anyone's punch, they are just being honest. PTO is a finite thing and has value!
This exercise is just to see if there is enough interest to even make the effort of having a match.

I agree and thank you for posting the pole to gauge the interest.
With life, things change. Who knows in 6 months to a year my opinion / priorities may change and I may feel differently about using PTO for a one day match.
But as it stands now I voted honestly about what I am willing to do.
Again Thanks

Re: Weekday Match Interest
One other thing to consider.
It's not just shooters that have to show up in order to have a match.
You need people to run the match too.
You can run 1 steel stage at a time with 1-2 line crew.
You can run 2 steel stages at a time with 4-6 line crew.
You can run 3 steel stages at a time with 7-9 line crew.
Depending on how many people you have in a match, you have to also find volunteers to run it...

Re: Weekday Match Interest
Keith,
dude seriously? You really need to develop some thicker skin. I obviously as you pointed out had no way of knowing who made the vote. I obviously can figure it out though based upon your obvious offense and defense to it. Relax a little buddy.
Let's be real here... i'm gonna lay it out for you.
CAPRC is proud to announce it's new semi annual LR 1000yd steel match. Matches will be in October and April to avoid holiday chaos and summer heat.
Shooters from out of state or other clubs are encouraged to attend.
This match will be held on a friday from 8:00 to 1hr after dusk. The round count is 150. Be prepared to shoot 1-2 night stages
There will be a small prize table with some trophys for the top 5 shooters.
All participants will receive a Tee shirt.
A BBQ of wild boar and mule deer caught on the CAPRC hunting trip will be served for lunch
At the end we will all head to BJs where will will stand around pitchers of Jeremiah Red, pound our chests, and measure each others barrels.
You will have the remainder of the weekend to make it up to your wife for coming home hung over friday night with glitter on your face.
Now i know you. I know you are super competitive. And i know damn well IF this ever did happen you would be one of the first ones to sign up. It wouldn't be fair to say that you're "defiantly not interested". Even if you couldn't get the time off you would be frothing at the mouth while everyone was out there having a good time.. therefore a more appropriate answer would be- this sounds good but it would be difficult for me to make -or- No, Though I may think differently if it were actually to happen
Go ahead and deny it just to prove your point. You know it's the truth though. Even if you couldn't make it i think it would be more fair to have voted differently just to gauge the interest for the possibility of it actually happening.
We all know it's a long shot and it's likely to be a dream. I NEVER take unnecessary days off of work but i wouldn't miss this for a thing. Sure it would be tough for my schedule but i would find a way to get it done. So would you!!!

Re: Weekday Match Interest
Really you figured it out that I was the one who voted that way? Well yeah I could see how my defense could be seen that way. I also could have just been defending anyone else in the club that voted that way from your snide comment.DirtRacer151 wrote: dude seriously? You really need to develop some thicker skin. I could be wrong but its also probably safe to say that any member that has been following the drama lately would guess that your comment was directed at Randall and that you believed Randall voted that way to, as you so eloquently put it, "piss on the party".
The point to my "defense", as you put it, was to show that ANY member should be free to vote as they feel w/o critizisim or snide remarks from other members and/or club leadership.
The point to my explanation of how I voted was to clarify any members doubts as to who voted that way and why so they didn't make false assumptions.
The idea above is awesome and qualifies as a big match where, as I said in a previous post, I would consider seeking time off to attend. However a large scale match is not what is implied in the opening post nor in the thread that brought about this poll in the first place. I think we can both agree that the club is in no position to be planning or holding are large scale match at this time.DirtRacer151 wrote:Let's be real here... i'm gonna lay it out for you.

Quite possibly if your vision above did happen I might be one of the first to sign up but more realistically I would be working that kind of event and not shooting in it. However your vision above is not what is being gauged or voted on.DirtRacer151 wrote:Now i know you. I know you are super competitive. If it is then Mike should change the wording in his first post to reflect that and would most likely change my vote accordingly.
Its reassuring to know that I don't need to think for myself because you know how I should vote to be fair and true to myself.DirtRacer151 wrote:Go ahead and deny it just to prove your point. You say things should be fair and members should be able to vote on things. Well I am participating in this vote as a member yet I am being TOLD that my vote doesn't matter and be TOLD how I should have voted.

Keith I'm gonna stop at this post. My comment was never direct randall you assumed wrong. Anyone that knows randall knows that he would sign up faster than curtis finished of his first girlfriend.
All I hear from you is negativity and excuses anyway. We all know if this were to ever happen it would have to be more than just a basic match to make it worth peoples wild. You can dream with me or you can continue with a negative attitude and excuses and shut it down before it ever happens.
If you were to tell me that I could shoot the april match if I were to help out in the october match
I would say what do you need me to do to get this ball rollin. I'll request both days off tomorrow.

Who said you have to be qualified to shoot a match? The first time i shot a match i did so with a borrowed rifle and knew the bare minimum. I would say i was underprepared but i had such a great time that now im hooked
