BRRC Team Challenge enrollment open
So Cal Shooters,
Its time to get signed up for the Team Challenge at Burbank Rifle and Revolver Club, I've tried to attach a PDF but it says "pdf's not allowed?" there's a thread over at Cal Guns with a match bulletin attached with the details, if you'd like to get signed up or have questions please let me know, as always if you don't have a team mate I can squad you with another solo before match day.
Thanks, Gary Eliseo

Re: BRRC Team Challenge enrollment open
I just emailed Gary and told him I'd like to join the match, now I need a ringer! Anyone looking for a partner for this?
He told me he gets a lot of solos so, if I don't find a partner he'd partner me up with someone.
Totally new to matches but have been shooting for quite awhile, just looking for Yoda to show me the force!
thanks
sonny

one more thing, what are you guys bringing to this?
I was planning on bringing the 700 and/or AR, and either shooting my Glock 34 or Kimber Warrior, will bring whatever I can get extra mags for.

Re: BRRC Team Challenge enrollment open
I think you have to shoot the same rifle for the entire match. As for pistol just about any CF will work.maddesign wrote:one more thing, what are you guys bringing to this?

Bring the rifle you're most accurate with. Either pistol will work. Bring holster and mag carriers. Figure out what is easiest way for you to carry your rifle when you transition to pistol.maddesign wrote:one more thing, what are you guys bringing to this?

Do you guys know if visitors are allowed to watch during the match? Is there an entrance fee?
What time are you guys looking to setup on Friday?
Last questions, is it okay if we are not a member of BRRC?
Thank you much in advance!

Re: BRRC Team Challenge enrollment open
2010 BRRC Team Challenge II After Action Report;
I’d like to start out by thanking Jack Edmondson, Tom Redfern, Joe Silvia and Ron Whittington for coming out to help run the match for us, also many thanks for the guy’s who came out on Friday to help set up the range, without the help of these unselfish individuals this event would be impossible.
We started the match with ½ of the group down in the canyon for the Field Stage, while the other ½ started at the 100yard range for the Dot Drill, as the teams finished up at one event they would move to the other, this version of the Field Stage started out with rifle targets at unknown distance fired prone then moving down canyon transitioning to multiple banks of pistol targets followed by more unknown distance rifle targets fired from alternate positions, the stage tests the teams marksmanship, communication, range estimation and physical abilities. The time used to complete the stage went from a leisurely 31 minutes (team 6 Thomas/Thomas) to a blazing 8 minutes (team 10 Villegas/Song) but it was team 9 (Raeder/Thomas) that took the event
The Dot Drill was fired concurrent with the Field Stage it was a new event that required the teams to engage twenty ½” dots at 100 yards in ten minutes, the event tests the shooters marksmanship, trigger control, NPA, and recoil management, it’s a stage that proved to be much more difficult than most expected, team 5 (Eliseo/ Tardif) edged out team 8 (Hern/Sato) to take the stage
The next stage was the Multiple Target Engagement Drill, where two teams fired side by side at multiple targets at 200, 300 and 600 yards presented to them for a ten second window, the team had to very quickly scan for targets and fire on as many of them as possible before they were withdrawn, everyone enjoyed the challenge and knowing your holdovers was the key to success, team 7 (Santiago/Mendoza) got it right and took the stage
Lastly was the Moving Targets, fired at 600 yards with as many as six targets running at once, one team member fires while the other spots and communicates the correcting information to the shooter after 5 minutes the team members switch and start over, in this stage the spotters role is crucial, team 6 (Thomas/Thomas) tied with team 10 (Villegas/Song) for top honors
In the end it was Team 1 (Tessiedre/Morita) who took the gold medal for the third time in a row, followed by team 7 (Santiago/Mendoza) who took the silver medal, team 5 (Eliseo/Tardif) took the Bronze.
The Team Challenge is designed to be highly difficult, to give an idea a perfect score would have been in excess of 1100 points! The match tests a wide variety of tactical marksmanship skills and teamwork, thanks to all the shooters who turned out to support the event, we have some new twists planned for the next even in September, hope to see you all there!
Best, Gary Eliseo

Great match Gary. Alot of fun. All the stages were very entertaining and challenging. The multiple engagement stage was very challenging for our team. The movers were alot of fun. The field stage was exciting. Like you say the communication and approach the team takes with each stage directly affects performance. Teams with a good game plan for a stage usually do well. Thanks for putting on this match.
