CaPRC 8/8/10 Match AAR

Post by AR15barrels »

We had 15 shooters show up to shoot today's match out of 16 RSVP's.
Ryan, James, myself and Brad took turns running the line so that we could all shoot the match as well.

Total round count for the day was either 45 or 46 depending on how many shots were fired on the poolballs.
There were 680 points possible.

The course of fire was as follows:

Stage 1
300yd coldbore
Round count: 1
On the beep, engage the 3" circle at 300yds with 1 shot.
50 points for a hit.
50 points possible
60 seconds prep, 30 seconds shoot time.

Stage 2
200 yard hostage.
Round count: 6
On the beep, engage the hostage target at 200 yards from the prone position with three rounds on each side.
15 points for bad guy and -15 points for hostage hit.

Stage 3
Pool balls.
Round count: up to 9
On the beep, engage all the solid pool balls. The 8 ball is optional. A hit to the 8 ball without also hitting all other solid balls causes the shooter to lose all points.

100 points possible.
60 seconds prep, 60 second shoot time.

Stage 4
Holdovers, out and in.
Round count: 5
On the beep, engage the plates in the following order: 200 little man, 300 circle, 400 small paddle, 300 circle, 200 little man. Shooter may not turn elevation knob during the string of fire.
15 points per hit.
75 points possible.
60 seconds prep, 45 seconds shoot time.

Stage 5
100yd poker chips from behind the yellow line.
Round count: 5
Start with ammo on the back benches & a round in hand, on the beep, move to rifle, engage a dot, open bolt, retrieve another round and engage another dot, repeat until finished.
20 points per broken poker chip.
100 points possible.
60 seconds prep, 80 second shoot time.

Stage 6
Unsupported positions.
Round count: 8
On the beep, engage the 100yd mini IPSC target center of mass with 2 shots offhand, 2 shots kneeling, 2 shots seated and finally 2 shots from unsupported prone.
Scoring as per the point values on the target.
80 points possible.
60 seconds prep, 60 seconds shoot time.

I FUBARed the first 2 stages because i zeroed the rifle monday when it was shooting shitty and the bore was fouled. Miraculously with a clean barrel i had to adjust back to my old zero after using the pool balls stage to zero the rifle. It was GTG after that.

How about the side prone grouping? ;) To bad it F-ed me for the steel madness stage since and i took a zero. i left my side prone dope on my windage knob. DOOOHHHHH!! Rifle shot excellent otherwise.

We should do side prone every month.
I mean, look, you cleaned it...

Several shooters did the same thing....I only looked to make sure my elevation was reset to zero since I never adjust windage when shooting close in...all my shots were to the right....

My side prone target was only 2 in the diamond...my rest was unsteady and I was wobbling all over...More practice....

Did better this month than last month.... :D. Every match is a learning point....Got to practice more

That was fun. For not having a solid zero nor dope for those rifles, I didn't do too bad. No side prone dope killed me. Quite different for this 260 from the old one. Good shooting James. And thanks Conner for letting me borrow the sling. There was a reason I didn't plan to shoot...I've never been so unprepared! And good shooting Brad. No need to get a laser. That 5r is a hammer.

My side prone group was insanely tight. To bad I dialed wrong and ended up putting that group in the center mass of the pink man. Don't Fuck Up! Right?

When we got to the side prone stage I was totally lost???? I asked mike shooter# 14 how the fuck are you supposed to shoot this way? my shots were 1.5 mil low and 1mil left. Thanks James for the info on what to do, next time I will do better (I hope). It was fun as hell even though I sucked ass!

Hell no, I don't play that game. I pointed them out to Ryan and Randall while they were tallying points and said not to count them.
