Rather simple really. You make sure people follow your basic safety rules I am sure you guys already have in place.

Muzzle Control
Bolts open
Finger straight.

All of which we follow. That statement was a small attempt at getting him to rethink that stage and allow us to be in a ready to fire position from the start. looks like it didnt work

It's more of an issue with the range we shoot at. I have no problems running up it. Others in the club might not be so lucky and either way you look at it Angeles isn't going to like it.

I might stay for a bit after the match. I'll bring my chrono.

Are you load testing or developing a DOPE card?

To do this after the match seems a bit ass backwards........

Load testing, need to verify velocitys. Thanks, and even if your not staying around long, I really only need to blast a dozen or so rounds over it to get what I want.

His reason for asking is that weve found the ballistic programs soft dope doesnt always match hard dope weve gathered when you enter in the velocity that the chrono gave us. This will not always be the case. Mine for example chronoed on two seperate ones at 2670 but my shooter ballistic program only matches my hard dope if I enter the velocity at 2725. Im pretty sure James had to do the same for his as well.

Is your scope height correct in the ballistic program?

Yes. Chronos don't mean anything for producing dope cards in comparison to using actual dope. I chronoed on 2-3 different chronos when i first built my 260. None of them were as accurate as taking my 1000yd hard dope and adjusting my velocity to match and then building the rest of my dope card off that. In my opinion chronos are really only useful for load development for comparison purposes.

I gotcha, I'm just trying to figure out why my load that is 1 1/2 grains under max, and a very common load is flattening primers. I want to see what velocity it is doing. I'm basically starting totally over with all load develepoment and once I know what i have, then I'll worry about the hard and soft dope, but I cant do shit untill I have something to shoot.

Count me as in for the match, or on the waiting list if it is already full. Or, if I am now behind a crushing mass of humanity, I can help herd cats at the match.

Listen if no one is going to man up and sit one out I will do it. Its called being a team player. I'm scared of very few things a COF is definitional NOT one of them. I as well as many asked for this COF I would not miss shooting "Randall's revenge" as John so lovingly put it for anything except of course if its for the greater good of the group. Pay your dues to the cub or someone else (me) will. Simply as that.

Jose. I was planning to volunteer this month until I heard about the COF, which made me want to shoot it. But I'll still volunteer if it means you can shoot. I was hoping we'd have other volunteers but its not looking good so far.

4 Spotters.
Two on the left.
One in the center.
One on the right who will also run the timer and do scoring.
The two line RO's will run the timer on the left and middle areas.

Last month I was my own spotter, timer, score keeper and I had to grab a spectator to do the actual spotting cause it was impossible to watch for impacts as well as the manual stop watch I was using as a timer. Not sure of the COF that person is doing but it could be real tough

The right side can all be run by 1 person if needed.
You don't need to see the impacts to spot them when the targets are swingers as they swing long after being hit.

Excellent.
We have our 3rd line officer.
Henry can run the right area until he has to leave.
His spotters should be more than capable of covering for the last hour or so after he leaves.

First Post.

I met, I believe, Randall at your last Match in February at Angeles Range and was given a card in regards to joining the Forum as well as the club. Regardless, I sent my check in yesterday to become a member, and am looking forward to participating as well as increasing my knowledge. I have a busy day tomorrow, but I do plan on coming out to introduce myself and observe for at least a few hours.
