WEGC 600 Yard Prone Matches
Here's an announcement from the Highpower Director at West End Gun Club. It looks like the 600 yard prone matches are going to be a monthly event.
"West End Gun Club is pleased to announce the return of the popular “Gruning” matches. These matches are fired from the 600-yard pad, from the prone position. The type of rifle can be anything from Service and “F-Class” rifles to your favorite deer rifle. It is a slow paced, relaxed, fun match. If you have a rifle with the “legs” to shoot 600-yards we have a class for it. This high power rifle match is perfect for the beginner and beginners are very welcome.
We will be holding these matches on the 2nd Sunday of every month, starting on December 12, 2010 . Time will be roughly from 0730 to 1400. All members of West End are encouraged to come out and give it a try. Bring your friend, wife, kids or grandkids too! Contact me, Charles Guzman, at 951.218.6076 for more information."

Ok. I am interested in going. I've never shot a match. It would be cool to shoot my 700 and M1.bcrich wrote: I believe the price is just alittle more if you are a non member, I will bring a friend and we will both shoot service rifle (1917 & 1903)

Bro you'll be hooked! After this match you gotta try Marks matches SCPRC at the same range, they are highly addictive consisting of mostly steel targets out to 540yds with some paper targets in the mix. The F-class matches are shot prone (paper) out to 600yds....actual yardage is less but close to it!bhobbs wrote: Ok. I am interested in going. I've never shot a match. I'm already hooked on shooting so it wouldn't surprise me if I was addicted to matches. I just hope that I don't get too bummed after getting my ass kicked a few times.bcrich wrote: Bro you'll be hooked! Re: WEGC 600 Yard Prone Matches
THIS IS GREAT NEWS, NOW WE WILL HAVE TWO MONTHLY RIFLE MATCHES AT WEST END GUN CLUB!!! I have been in continuous contact with the High Power Match Director, Mr. Charles Guzman and mentioned to him I believe many of the PBR Guy will come over and shoot this match as well the the PBR. So now we can mirror many other clubs that have Tactical Rifle Matches and F-Class Style Matches. Very cool.
Charles mentioned to me that the match could start at the 500M Line and then move forward to the 300M Line and then wrap up at the 200M Line. Some months he may just stay at the 500M Line.
Either way this will be a bumb to his High Power Matches that have been a little lean at times. It will be nice to just shoot a match where all you have to do is pull a trigger and pull pit duty. Good stuff and good for the precision game as well.

Do you know if bipods are allowed? What about a rear bag or butt spike?

Re: WEGC 600 Yard Prone Matches
Yes bipods are allowed as well as rear bags, I don't even know what a butt spike is but that sounds funny. The only thing that might not be kosher is probably a mechanical rest as most other matches dont allow them but Cam could probably answer that one!

Re: WEGC 600 Yard Prone Matches
For official F class matches, you can use a benchrest type front rest if you're shooting F class open. For what we're doing at West End,it's for practice and having fun,so use what you want.

You keeping a roster. I think I can actually make this one, for a change.
