CaPRC match at Angeles 2/13/11

Post by AR15barrels »

The California Precision Rifle Club is proud to announce that our next match will be Sunday February 13th at the Angeles Ranges.
For details about the Angeles Ranges, see their website: http://www.angelesranges.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Image

Signups start at 8:00am and shooting should start at 9:15am when the line goes hot.
Please arrive at the left side of the Angeles rifle range no later than 8:30am to complete your waivers, sign-in and get assigned your shooter numbers.
Your shooters number is also your position on the line so please lineup accordingly.

Image

This will be the second match of out 2011 points series.
Full details about the points series will be available once we finalize them, but there will be awards at the end of the year as well as some really nice prizes.

Match fee is $20 for Caprc members or $30 for non members.
The match fee also includes use of the range after the match is completed.
We usually try to finish by 1pm.
Bring 50 rounds of match grade ammo.
Be prepared to shoot as close as 10yds and as far as 600yds.
Be prepared to shoot from standing, kneeling, seated, prone and other improvised postions.

Image

This match is open to bolt action and semi-auto rifles from 223 up through 308.
A velocity limit of 3100 fps will be in effect to reduce damage to club-owned steel targets.
Bipods, slings, shooting mats and rear bags are allowed and recommended.
Chamber flags are mandatory. If you don't have one, purchase one at the range or make something yourself.
This match is very "new precision rifle shooter" friendly so bring out your rig and see what it can do.

Image

Member RSVP's willbe accepted after 12 noon on Monday February 7th.
Non-Member RSVP's will be accepted after 12 noon on Tuesday February 8th.
RSVP's posted before those times will be ignored.

Please RSVP by posting something very definite in this thread such as "I am in" or "I will be there".
We will not accept "if...", "I would like to go" or "I might go" as an RSVP.

We need to know how many are coming so we can design our course of fire to suit the attendence level and still finish in time.
We are going to cap this at 30 shooters.
If you RSVP and later figure out that you can't come, please post that as well so we can keep the RSVP list current and move people up from the waiting list.

Before you guys flood this thread with RSVPs....

It hasn't been formally announced yet but I know some of you may have heard something about the points series we have planned for 2011. There will be a list of requirements to be eligible for prizes at the end of the year. These requirements will be posted in another announcement. For now I will tell you that one requirement will be that you MUST lay down your rifle for at least 2 events to help us run the line. Your duties can be anything from setup, spotting, scoring, or take down. (Please don't be offended if you are shootng and are asked to do something too) We have a lot on our plates to get these matches done for you guys. If you think 2 times is bad consider us board members who will be required to run 4 matches each through out the year. I will be keeping track of who has helped throughout the year.

These guys offered to put their rifles down and help in january-
Nathan W
Jose F
Joe V
Thanks for helping guys!!!
We need 3 guys. Brian01tj has already volunteered for this month.

Please don't clutter this thread with discussion. Post a positive "ill be there to help" if you want to help this month.

These guys will help this month-

Your ammo is fine. Your rifle is fine. Your scope is fine. Just bring your A-game and you'll do just fine as well.

I don't know, but we are at 24 now.
Only 6 spots left.
After 30 rsvp's, people go on the waiting list.
I suspect we might not get 30 rsvp's though.

Dont worry about it brother! Your not going to win it all your first time out. Just the fact that you will be showing up says alot about your testicular fortitude which is more then I can say for about 95% of the people on snipershide.com lol just come out have fun and get a feel for things.

Chris, we all started someplace- don't sweat how you rank against other shooters... just get the fundamentals right. It's the secret to winning matches, never worry about where you rank, simply work the fundamentals.

Chris, don't sell yourself short. If you enter the match thinking you're going to get last place, you probably will. A lot of people think this way. They would rather be right than surprise themselves by shooting well, e.g., "I knew was I was going to come in last place and my prediction was right. I'm always right."

Don't be like this. Come to the match thinking that you're doing to shoot as well as you ever did. And you probably will. Ho did that his first match. And he got third. I was stunned but Ho wasn't surprised. He had decided beforehand that he was going to shoot well. And he did.

And even if you come in last place, let's examine that. Did you really finish at the bottom of the barrel? Not from my way of looking at things you didn't. You still finished ahead of all of the internet big talkers who shoot half MOA all day long when they do their part but didn't show up for the match. You still finished ahead of those hispeed zombie killers who claim they get 10" groups at 1000 yards. You still finished ahead of the self-styled experts who "review" rifles and scopes all the time on their blogs and facebook pages. You still finished ahead of those "build" guys who are always endlessly building their builds and tell you they can't show up for their match because they're still in the process of building their builds. All of these big talkers would rather die than show up for a match and destroy their carefully crafted internet personas.

As I said before, it takes some guts to show up for your first match. It's not easy.
