I think I did better for this match than I have done in a long time. For starting the day out in the 1st 3 stages with an overall score of -20, and then to come back to 8th place, I thought was pretty good. I cannot believe that I hit 5 out of the 6 KYL plates!! It felt great and I was going to shoot the 6th round. I had time and the round in my hand thought to myself, no, dont do it. As usual, my weak point is shooting off a baricade... James, where's my barricade...? I need practice..

Thank you John for all your help. Congrats on the double win....

He shot 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 then 4.

What we really need to do is get more wives/girlfriends to come out and spot/score the matches.
Who knows, some of them might even turn into shooters when they see how fun it is...

It's the butt-hurt cake people trying to revive cake after pie has trumped it for the last few years.
I mean, come on, everyone knows pie is better than cake...

My wife even watches shows on cable where they have a competition to see who can make the best cupcakes. She went nuts when her favorite lost the competition. I told her she's obsessed. She told me, I got shooting, she has her cupcakes, clothes, and handbags.

How come nobody got more then 10pts on positional KYL? An 8" circle at 350 should be easy to hit seated and would be doable from kneeling too. Wondering if people were missing or nobody was taking the chance?

Also somebody explain stage 9 to me a little better...

I spotted a few people on the KYL and people were missing the sitting. As far as stage 9 goes you had to be standing behind the rifle and had only 17 seconds to get down and shoot the target then got shorter after that all the way down to 5 seconds.

Several people missed the seated shot.

Stage 9:
Rifle on the line, magazine loaded bolt open.
Shooter standing up behind rifle.
On the buzzer, get down on the rifle and take one shot at the 6" plate at 300yds.
You do this 5 times with decreasing par times of 17, 14, 11, 8 and finally 5 seconds.

The seated shot was too unsteady for the size of target. (but not for you sureshot!)

Come on MV!!! You had tons of practice at TBRC doing head shots at 2-300yds positional! It was only 10pts to loose if you missed anyway....

I went for the KYL from sitting. It was a fail.

Ho began uploading the match vids to his YouTube account. Yesterday was the first time I tried the iPhone. The color and resolution are better than with our beater shop camera, but the vids are all shaky. I'll try to keep the camera more still next time.

Jeff on the cold bore:

You blinked, Jeff. Fail.

Mike on the cold bore:

Mike, your weak eye is still twitching but you still tagged the headbox. Nice.

Brad on the barricade:

This barricade stage was really difficult. I think Mike Victor was the top scorer here with four hits out of eight shots.

Other vids are still loading.

Well I would have CRUSHED my skilled opponents if I had just sat out of the 200y hostage stage. (-30 for me!)

I ran the positional KYL stage, so I've got some insight into this. I think it was a bit of a mind game because I don't think many had ever done anything like it. The prone shot was a gimme on a 8" plate at 250, although 2 or 3 missed it. Only two people or so called it quits after the prone shot and just got up and "knew their limits," most people sat there for the full 2 minute par time and as i watched their trigger fingers were just about ready to squeeze as i yelled out "TIME!" Only another 2 people or so took the shot from the seated position, they missed.

I watched people who I know are more than capable of hitting an 8 inch plate at 250 from seated either miss, or take way longer than they needed to and not have time to pull the shot off. I think we are all used to shooting positional stages with relatively low pressure because we know others wont do well either, but when its a KYL the pressure is on hard because you know you'll zero if you miss.

I have to work on my barricade tiger technique. Yesterday was my first time shooting off a barricade and I was all rookied out. I like how Henry put his forend into the corner of the stairsteps and how Jeff used the side of the last stairstep. I was all over the place.

Sonny,

Do my eyes deceive me.......looks like you're blinking on every shot.

Not to jump on you or anything, Sonny, but your comb looks really tall there relative to the scope. You have an AR-ish weapon with the bolt travel under your face, and the rings there look like standard rings rather than ARish rings. It just might be the angle from which I took the video, but it looks as though you have to scrunch your face down onto the comb to look through the center of the scope. Even when you're not shooting, your face looks tense and scrunched. I think a blink in such a situation is almost inevitable.

But look at that ejection. Superb.
