Father's Day match PBR AAR wegc

Post by bcrich »

Today's match had 13 shooters with 2 new faces...Pat & Cris thanks you guys for coming out supporting the sport. The weather was nice but had some wind & shooting from the new location made it really challenging getting good consistent hits. We had a late start trying to get everything set up from up the hill & had a few targets fail on impact but making changes on the fly seemed to work out (thanks James & Rich C)
1st place. Brandon (excellent job considering it's been a while) 355pts
2nd place. Aaron 331
3rd place. Rich C 331
4. Jason 310
5. Nate 296
6. James 280
7. Esteban 273
8. Rich G 270
9. Julian 250 and takes best long shot award showing us what a Savage can do! 5rnds at 400yds into 3"
10. Ben 224 & takes top 308
11. Pat (new guy) 164
12. Chris 110 (new guy)
13. Larry 107

Big thanks to Rich C & James for running the match . Rich brought out his steel & t posts for the long shots & sponsored the stages with the shoot n sees ( short action precision )

Julian scored 5 hits on the fence stage

This is Julian's medal winning 5 rnds at 400yds, excellent shooting . (You were correct about this stage, I had the names wrong giving you the win but unfortunately a few places back) excellent job no less.

46 pts for Julian & 39 for Esteban. This is a 3" group earning Julian the win for best long shot @400yds

Stage 1 was a huge 12" plate @ 514 yds.. All shooters made the hit

Stage 2 was 5rnds at the 8" shoot n see @ 393+-yds. Julian had the highest score of 46 winning best long shot. With a SAVAGE ;)

Stage 3 was shoot n confirm, 8 rnds. You had to hit the skinny Sammy @ 300yds and follow it up with a hit on the 514 yd plate to get your points on the Skinny Sammy. If you missed the 12" plate you didn't get the points. Nate & Jason had 6 hits each. Good job guys!

Stage 4 was the hold over stage using the 300, 400, & 514yds plate 6 rnds Aaron once again demonstrated his MADD skills getting 5 hits.

Stage 5 was the chain link fence, 6 rnds at the 218 yd steel. Ben, Julian & myself scored 5 hits

Stage 6 was the tank trap, Aaron,Brandon, Nate all got 6 hits on the 6" steel at 218 yds.

Stage 7 was the hostage paper targets @ 150yds 8 rnds. Shooters had to switch between strong side & weak side each shot. Jason mastered the stage making all 8 hits in the bad guys eye box.

Stage 8 run n gun, starting from my 4runner shooters had to run to the bench & shoot 2 rnds at the 3" steel then move to the barrel for 2 shots at the 4" steel then move to the tank trap for 2 shots on 6" steel then drop to the seated position for 2 shots on 8" steel..... Then rush it to the prone position for 2 shots on the skinny Sammy's. Brandon was the only one to beat the timer and make both Skinny Sammy shots scoring the highest 90 pts. Awesome!!!!!

Julian I'm sorry brother I screwed the pooch on the scoring of the long shot award. Esteban had 46 & you had 36. The 10 pts difference didn't change the overall places though. Again very sorry homie I suck at adding.

EDIT---boy was I wrong!!!!! Julian takes the long shot award & posted the pics of his awesome work with a SAVAGE even :)
The correct scores were 46 pts for Julian & 39 for Esteban.

Thanks everyone for putting on a great match! Always fun. Good fresh stages, and got to stretch our legs a bit again. We should do this more- start on the hill and move down to the 550.

Congrats Ben and everyone.

Twice in a row I was right behind Nathan...

Wondering what happened to James. He smoked everyone bad last month.

Jasons hostage is nuts man.... Good shooting!

No problem bro, but I'd like you to double check. I was the only one with 2 in the 10 ring on the shoot n c. (and had a bull).

I'll look at the targets this week, I didn't trash them because we can use them again. I got the shooter #'s confused 7&8 . I'll keep you posted when I get a chance to go to the range again. Thanks for being cool about it.

Another awesome match to add to the books. I always walk away with learning something.

Keep us posted Rich on that long shot award. I would love to add a PBR award to my little stash. (fingers crossed)

I'm just curious.

I know I had the tightest group and highest score on the shoot n c. I'm pretty sure Esteban hit more 500 steel... I just dont know how all the hits were scored to total it up....

No worries though Rich.

Another big thanks for making this happen (and Chronister, James)

Julian what was your shooter #? That should explain the confusion. They were scored by the value rings that were hit.

Cool. Thanks for taking the time Rich. Appreciate it.

I wasnt sure if the long range award was a combination of shoot n c *AND* 500 steel hits... or just the shoot n c....

Thats where I got confused and thought Esteban would've beat me. I know he had more hits on the 500 steel. He kicked my butt on the shoot and confirm.
