Those of you shooting the match, keep in mind the Cajon Crawl project and allow for extra time to get to the range in the morning.

Re: Precision Bolt Rifle match Aug 17 @ WEGC
An easy work around for this is to take the 210 east all the way to Sierra ave, Exit and head north all the way up to WEGC. This will allow you to bypass the 15 fwy all together.khw9mm wrote:Those of you shooting the match, keep in mind the Cajon Crawl project and allow for extra time to get to the range in the morning.

I went to WEGC yesterday about 10:00AM- freeway was fine both directions between 215 and sierra.
However, the creek had some water in it... anyone with a 'low rider' might think twice about it, but nothing a normal car cant deal with.
Who knows - it might be dry by next week.

I'm going to try to shoot, if my rifle is done, if my Copper Creek ammo shows up and if I can make it out to zero on Sat.
So, alot of if's but I'm gonna try.

Where can I read up or learn about these types of matches (what they are, what we need, how they're run and scored, etc), also, where is your range?

Re: Precision Bolt Rifle match Aug 17 @ WEGC
Joshua, I post an AAR (after action report) as soon as I get a chance & describe the days events by stage. The scoring is determined by hits on steel & scoring values on paper ... 10 ring, 9 ring, 8,7,6 etc but it's not always the same. We typically run 2 squads each with its own RO. You can get a pretty good idea from the AAR.blockfort wrote:Where can I read up or learn about these types of matches (what they are, what we need, how they're run and scored, etc), also, where is your range?
Wegc is located near the north end of Fontana off Sierra & the 15 frwy. If you have questions regarding gear you can give me call ill be happy to answer whatever questions you might have 909-438-7595

In to shoot. Messages below:
Danny, I've got a D-ring you left behind.
Esteban, I've got a precision 50 grain weight made. Came out to 49.998 grains. I'm getting better at making them, but it only takes one sand stroke to go from over to under. My next best one came out to 49.992. There is long time delay waiting for them to come back to temp after touching them, what happens is that if it is hot, it causes a buoyancy effect that makes it read light. Conversely, I had the opposite problem, when I clean them with alcohol they get cold and read heavy for a while. That being said, I think .002gr is close enough.
Evin, I have some 6 creed dies you can borrow, whidden. You would need a neck bushing though, I need the bushing for my 243 dies. Redding bushings fit. I'm going to 6 creed and am awaiting the reamer and muzzle brakes.

Re: Precision Bolt Rifle match Aug 17 @ WEGC
Thanks Aaron! I already ordered a set of Whiddens and I'm hoping to get my 6mm Wilson seater blank chambered as well. I just measured the Copper Creek rounds and a .271-2" bushing should do the trick. I have enough Copper Creek ammo to zero and shoot one match.

Re: Precision Bolt Rifle match Aug 17 @ WEGC
Looks like I'm out, my chamber is a little too short for the Copper Creek rounds (they chamber but really jam into the lands) so I'm going to have to re-seat them and re-zero.
So I'll back out at Angeles to zero tomorrow and I'll see most of you at the club match next week. Shoot well!

That sucks. Watch for pressure sign.
We have a guy on the team with a short chamber. He reached his max at much lower weight compared to the rifles chambered by GAP.

Re: Precision Bolt Rifle match Aug 17 @ WEGC
Max pressure or max velocity? There was a little bit of ejector swipe on the first round, but the other 4 only had slight primer flattening. I'm gonna seat them back to a .010" jump and also make some work up loads but I'm pretty sure the Copper Creek ammo will be fine once it's jumping instead of .05" into the lands

Just be careful. Maybe pull a few rounds apart and lower the charge just a tad to make sure the pressure is ok with the rounds seated deeper. Try .020 jump.

Re: Precision Bolt Rifle match Aug 17 @ WEGC
I'm gonna just load a few lower charge work up rounds to shoot first, I really don't think there will be pressure signs with a proper jump.
