Future PBR matches at WEGC

Post by DirtRacer151 »

Hey guys, well the time has come and we are in the process of finally building a mover for future PBR and SCPRT matches. We (SCPRT) have taken it upon ourselves to get this ball rolling which includes funding this project %100 ourselves to make it happen. We are already into it more money then had hoped to spend. Currently we've got $700 in it and we're guessing by the time tracks, frame, and armor are finished it will be close to $1000 cost.

We have a functioning mock up now and it's got adjustable speed control on it. We haven't clocked it yet but the speed should be adjustable from 0-5mph. In its current form it's able to support the weight of a 175lb man riding on it. It still needs some tidying up of wires and whatnot but that will come as it takes more shape.

I would like to ask of anyone who currently participates, has participated in the past, plans to participate in the future, in any WEGC PBR match, that you would be willing to help us in the home stretch with final costs to get this thing finished. If you're willing to donate some money to the cause so that we can finally have a mover to shoot at in SoCal then please contact myself, Rich Chronister, or Rich Gonzalez. Anything helps guys. Remember up til this point we've funded the entire thing off of SCPRT.

Thanks guys!!

Here's our breakdown so far-

Motor and Motor Driver $375
Electronics to control motor driver (Microcontroller, relays, sensors, etc) $51.13
2 12V Batteries $103.56
4 Vtrack Wheels $64.48
4 Bearings w/Hubs $44.72
2 Sprockets $43.31
Chain and Chain Link $17.22

Grand total= $699.42.

We really appreciate it guys. After this is completed we have plans to build a smaller cable driven mover for paper stages. The cost on that will be MUCH cheaper.

Just a thought.... If you put the axles underneath and cut a slot for the chain you would get more ground clearance. If you use angle iron for the tracks on rocky ground it might help. Probably don't need to but just throwing it out there.

Thanks Reese. Track is not built yet. Notice the wheels? :shifty:
This is just a simple mock up.

Axels on the bottom means more exposed wheel which means more steel in front to protect the wheels which means it will be heavier :)

But I did design it do be able to be made exactly the way you described just in case. There's already a slot for the chain so everything but the axels could literally just be flipped to the other side very easily.

If the ground is somewhat level a simple 1 1/2" angle iron track laying directly on the ground will make the wheels be about .75" off the ground and the bottom of the plate 2.5" off the ground.

Hey guys, thanks again to everyone who is helping with this project.

Does anyone have a line on someone with a sheet of AR500? The place we usually get it from is out of stock and they want us to purchase a full sheet just to get the armor front plate for this thing.
Anyone have a local lead?
