600yd F Class August 15th?
I'm just taking a poll to see how many would attend an F class match on sunday August 15th if it could be arranged.
Location TBD, but it's within an hour of the greater LA area.
Check out this link for a description of f class shooting:
http://demigodllc.com/articles/introduc ... mpetition/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This would be at 600yds.
Probably a 60 round course of fire.
Around $20 entry fee.
This is excellent wind-reading practice as your target is spotted after every shot.
You get instant feedback on what the mirage looked like compared to where the bullet landed on target.

I'd usually be a for sure but August is shaping up to be a busy month for me so I don't want to commit yet.

Maybe for me
All comes down to me working up a good load. I should have plenty of time before the 15th.

Re: 600yd F Class August 15th?
Burbank Rifle and Pistol club holds F matches to 600 regularly....If we have a problem for August, maybe we could do another month? Also, Cuyama holds their F-Class matches every other month on the 3rd Sunday(I know, conflicts with Mark's WEGC match), but this is a very low key match and it also has pit service....It's just 100 miles from the Santa Clarita area...Plus if you cannot make the match, there is a practice the Saturday before the match that's even less stress...

The poll is setup so you can change your vote, so if something changes, please DO change your vote to reflect that so we have an accurate head count.

I put maybe simply because I dont know the location. If its an hour north of the greater LA area then I probably wont make it. If its more south then I would definitely show up.

Re: 600yd F Class August 15th?
For those of you who have never shot a regular High Power Prone/F Class type match I highly recommend it. I've slowly been getting some of our guys here up north to come out to the ones at Sac Valley, they always come away with a positive experience and come back for more.
As Randall stated, because of the standard 1 minute per shot time frame, there is ample time on each shot to look at any wind flags and the mirage at various distances between you the shooter and the target, make your wind call, and then see the result as each shot is individually spotted. This lets you know if your wind calls are correct, where the mirage is giving you the most information and where it doesn't, time to learn what the mirage actually means in terms of speed, change ups and switches. And when it lies
It's also a great time to work on being consistent in your position behind the rifle from shot to shot. Several of our guys shot a 3x600 match yesterday and that's one thing I heard them talk about. They realized that they could keep most of their shots in that tiny 3" X ring if they did things right and the same every time. But subtle changes in their position would cause them to throw shots out.
Randall,
Will you split your guys into F T/R (.223/.308) and F Open (everything else) groups? Make sure you have access to, or get, the MR-C F Class centers. Shooting Xs and 10s on the standard MR prone target is too easy.

This is to be done on a legitimate range with legitimate pits and proper f class targets.

Re: 600yd F Class August 15th?
August 15 is the THIRD Sunday of the month,so there's no conflict with the CaPRC match at Angeles.
For those that are planning to shoot, watch the videos that ocabj on Cal Guns made about pulling targets. Everyone will be expected to pull pit duty.

Hey guys, the 600 yard match is at West End. For those of you that are still deciding to shoot or not , post in the poll soon if you're attending so I can let the match director know how many of us are showing up.We have 8 working target frames , but only 7 are usable due to some tree branches in the way. If we're going to have a big turnout we'll have to get those branches trimmed.

I spoke to the match director today,he would like everyone there between 7:15 and 7:30 for sign ups and squadding, shooting starts by 8am.
He's limiting attendance to 28 shooters so get here early. We had 14 shooters last time so there should be room for everyone, but don't be late.

When I made the original range location page, I put the range directions at the TOP of the page and the clubhouse directions at the BOTTOM of the page...
I built the club's old website from scratch starting with only a couple graphics they gave me.

It is kinda confusing. When i first clicked the link i would've just gone to the clubhouse if i didn't know any better so i figured I'd point that out to guys that haven't been there.AR15barrels wrote:

Hahaha, good thing you mentioned this. I know it's on the way to Lytle Creek but I would have simply copied the address on the website and throw it in my GPS....ending up in Ontario!DirtRacer151 wrote:

Agree. Most people would go to their website to find location of the range no? and not the clubhouse....just sayin'...AR15barrels wrote:
I hate the new wegc website.
When I made the original range location page, I put the range directions at the TOP of the page and the clubhouse directions at the BOTTOM of the page...
I built the club's old website from scratch starting with only a couple graphics they gave me.

7:15 AM- no one believes in going out on a Saturday night??CamW wrote:I spoke to the match director today,he would like everyone there between 7:15 and 7:30 for sign ups and squadding, shooting starts by 8am.
He's limiting attendance to 28 shooters so get here early. We had 14 shooters last time so there should be room for everyone, but don't be late.
bar closes at 2:00-get home at 2:30- wake up at 6:00= 3.5 hours of sleep
