Yes ,the 600 yard match at WEGC is on.The match director wants shooters to show up between 7:15 and 7:30 for sign ups and squadding. He's trying to get rounds downrange by 8am.He limiting it to 28 shooters, so don't be late.

Go to the bottom of the page. From Costa Mesa about 70 minutes.
http://www.wegc.org/wordpress/?page_id=9" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
15 FWY north,4 miles past the 210, exit Sierra, turn left, go under Freeway. Go north on Sierra about one mile, look for West End sign on right side.Enter dirt road , cross creek bed (there's no water this time of year) and go in about one mile.Check in with the guy at the gate, he'll direct you where to park.
About parking, there is very limited parking on the firing line, it's easier to park in the lot below and carry your gear up the hill.
BTW, anyone need target stands? I'll bring them with me if anyone wants some (Shameless plug).

Re: 600 yard match
This is the latest email from the Match Director. It will be a 2x25 (50 rounds plus sighters).
3 relays of 7 shooters.
He's limiting entries to 21 shooters, so get there early!
I'm going to let him know that there will be 10 shooters from CaPRC.
"Greetings,
We will be holding a modified Mid-range match on the 15th of August.
The course of fire will be 2 strings of 25 rounds each with unlimited
sighters. In addition to shooting, you will be required to score and
serve in the pits. It should be a good day, we will provide easy-ups,
but it will still be hot so bring plenty of water to drink.
Sign-ups: 0715 to 0745.
Fees: 10.00 for members, 15 for nonmembers.
We will have to limit the match to 21 shooters, so give me a heads up
ASAP
Thanks
Guzman"

I seriously doubt he will really cap it at 21 if more show up.
There's always a way to squeeze more people in, even if they have to trim some bushes to get the 8th lane visible.
God shoots a Remington 700, drives a Chevy Truck and carries a Glock 19.
I don't do any of those things.

Re: 600 yard match
I was at the range today, looked at the tree branches in the way after my match. Everything was"too". I was too tired (I had 58 shooters) , it was too hot and the branches that need cutting were too tall.
I'm going to see what the range master can do about the branches, but it looks like 7 shooters at a time on the line for Sunday.
See you guys tomorrow!

Re: 600 yard match
Here's the AAR from Charles Guzman, Match Director
15 August Modified Mid-Range After Action Report
15 August we held our second mid-range match of our new schedual. For those of you not yet
aware the High Power Discipline now runs two kinds of matches. The months of Februrary, April,
June, August, October and December we run a Mid-range match. This match consists of 2 strings of
25 shots each for record with unlimited sighters. Shooters will have 30 minutes to acompliish this
task. The months of January, March, May, July, September, November we shoot our normal XTC
match.
Thanks to all who showed up today, the match is a work in progress, today seemed to go pretty
good. We beat the 100° temperatures by finishing at 1300 and by the use of club easy-ups. It was
down right pleasant. These F-Class guys know how to live! Thanks to Cameron and Lyle for setting
up the easy-ups and extra tarps.
The service rifle class was taken by Marco who managed to drop 4 points over the two strings
resulting in a 496-21X, second place was Mike B. with a 485-20X. Remember, "Every Marine is a
rifleman" and Marco proved it once again.
The F-class was taken by Steve who shot a 488-18X, second place was Mark with a respectable 485-
17X. For those of you who are unfamiliar with F-class targets let me explain. The X "Ring" on an F-
Class target is a 3" circle. The 10 "ring" is a 1.5 " bigger around giving it a diameter of 6 inches.
This means the when you look at a score of 488-18X, 18 times they were able to hit a 3" circke 556
yards away 18 times! and all but 12 shots out of 50, hit the 6" circle. On a clam day, with no wind,
well, that's one thing but to do it with wind blowing and switching directions on you is a whole
different ball game. Hats off to these F-Class shooters.

Jeez...nice tent city....Now all you need is misters to spray you every so often...Looks like you need some cover for those pits...In Cuyama somebody built a 2-3 foot overhang on the top to provide some much needed shade...makes a big difference...

This is not going to go well when Vu finds this thread...CamW wrote:Our tent city
God shoots a Remington 700, drives a Chevy Truck and carries a Glock 19.
I don't do any of those things.
