Re: CaPRC 6/12/11 Match AAR
I like snapping pics and taking vids during the match. It's a nice distraction from the pressures of the match. It's also fun to watch the vids afterward.
Mike on the ticking:
Steven on the same stage:
Steven, check your spectacles on this vid. I think you adjust your spectacles before every shot.
Brad vs. Nathan on the Man vs. Man:
Brad vs. Mike on the Man vs. Man finale:
It was very close. Great shooting by both, but Mike won by a hair. Well done, Mike.

Thanks John. As always great vids. Can you send me a link to that mount you were using for the iphone?johnlee wrote:Keith on the time ticking down:

I wasn't sure i was going to do well on that stage since my scope was stuck somewhere between 3.8 - 5 power.
The plate looked really really small.
Then again the field of view was awesome

That was a close one! Grandpa redlighting the start, and me shooting his old rifle just makes the win sweeter Great vids as always John.

John, you are right about the glasses... They slip down all the time and I find myself having to push them up.... As far as shooting, I just do not have the reaction time to get a shot off in 5 seconds. At lunch, randall was talking about a guy that got off a shot in 3.9 sec with the rifle lying on top of a pack, not staged on a bipod...now that is amazingly fast.....

John, congrats on the win and thanks for the vids. I found myself yelling at myself in the vids to stop making stupid mistakes.
but that is the good thing about watching your self on camera, you get to critique your technique, or lack of it.
Mike, that was great shoot off and you deserve the bragging wrights. Glad to see you are getting settled in on the rifle, your
scores show it.

That's the problem with little birdies, they just make noise eat and shit on things, without any credibility.Gnzrme wrote:well John, get them while you can cause a little birdie tells me that the Top 308 award is going bye bye....don't worry, I bitched and hollered about it too....

johnlee wrote:Not to jump on you or anything, Sonny, but your comb looks really tall there relative to the scope. You have an AR-ish weapon with the bolt travel under your face, and the rings there look like standard rings rather than ARish rings. It just might be the angle from which I took the video, but it looks as though you have to scrunch your face down onto the comb to look through the center of the scope. Even when you're not shooting, your face looks tense and scrunched. I think a blink in such a situation is almost inevitable.
But look at that ejection. Superb.
Thanks John and Henry for pointing those out, didn't know I was doing that. To be honest, I feel that I'm pretty relaxed when I shoot, I think I just have fat cheeks. I did play with the comb a bit after seeing the video, I lowered it all the way down. I'll see if it works out better for me. As for the blinking, I'll have to work on that since I never notice it before.

That's great news on Top 308.
I took only one photo at the match:

I'm digging that Randall is now EDCing his Omega rather than reserving it for "special occasions". Good call. Any day you wake up is a special occasion.

I would hope in the near future we can start producing matches that would be enough of a disadvantag to 308s that we can proudly crown a Top 308 shooter each month.

All we need is a range longer than 800yds.DirtRacer151 wrote:I would hope in the near future we can start producing matches that would be enough of a disadvantag to 308s that we can proudly crown a Top 308 shooter each month.

Re: CaPRC 6/12/11 Match AAR
Yep.. honestly I love the saying "shoot a laser if you want to win.. shoot a 308 if you want to keep it real". TBRC was brutal on the 308s this year. Top 308 finished mid pack over all. I give it up to guys that get top 308 on a weekend like that. Keeping it real in the crazy wind against guys shooting lasers takes balls!! I would have to build a nice 308 if we got a longer range just to let myself get kicked around OG style. I also like the idea of the occasional 308 ONLY match just for shits.AR15barrels wrote:

Re: CaPRC 6/12/11 Match AAR
This vid of Nick shooting the time ticking down is the last one. So as not to bother Nick during his prep time, I put the tripod on Nick's right well beforehand. So the video is quite long. The action starts around the 3:00 mark:
I'm digging how Nick used the spare pair for the fifth round. No hispeed hicap detachable magazine necessary.
Nick cleaned the stage too. Well done.

Congrats to John for the win and also thanks for the video's adding more things to fix onto my overflowing to do list. I should also point out that this is probably the first bagless win in a club match, not that you would notice looking at his Speed Drill target.

I had such a good time participating at the match on Sunday. It was my first shooting competition and now I'm hooked. Everybody was very friendly and helpful. I will try my best to be at every monthly match and train up at Angeles whether it be participating or a line hand. My girl friend has also expressed interested in helping out also. Thanks!
